They were all out after 33 overs for 95 - on HARD level. I tried this tactic during a 50 over one day match against Australia. They never score from the forward defensive and the on drive 99% of time will lead to the CPU being bowled. 99% of the time it will be a forward defensive or an on drive. Just bowl a yorker, and when the ball diagram appears (known as OSD - on screen display) as the power gauge builds up, move the marker to 12 o?clock and see what happens. The yorker !! With fastmed bowlers and even sometimes swing bowlers, its always the yorker. Well, don?t read any further if you don?t want to know. You know people always wonder if there is one particular type of delivery that always gets the CPU out. Let me explain further by talking about the worst bug in the entire game. I am sorry Mr Wellard but that just isn?t true. Here is Jeremy?s response on 14th November if the CPU square cuts a lot and you put in 3 gullies, will he change his shot ? ?7( Will the batsmen's AI be good in regards to custom fields. You just need a mid on (and long on if you want) and the flow of runs comes to a halt.īelow is a post made by BenJ to HB Studios on 31st October 2001 Its favourite shot to a well pitched up delivery is the on drive, even if bowled outside off stump. It always seems to play the same strokes to the same delivery bowled and hence is very easy to tie down. Well I find the CPU batting to be shocking. I will now be making references to posts made mainly by myself and Jeremy Wellard from the forum. Oh dear, oh dear, this is where I started to come across some ?bugs? that really impact on the game for the solo player. I found this had no adverse impact on the game at all for me. Jeremy Wellard from HB Studios (makers of game) said that it was due to motion capture limitations. Some people have grumbled that a lot of the throws are left handed.
I have never used manual fielding so cannot comment, but the CPU fields realistic enough for you. The bowling cursor used to decide on where ball pitches is a nightmare at first to control, where wides are a regular occurrence, but after a bit of practice, you can soon be placing it on a sixpence.
Its expertly done and the first game to correctly implement it correctly. If you don?t press the appropriate button before the gauge reaches maximum a no ball is called. You pick your delivery type first up e.g out swinger, in swinger etc (depending on type of bowler) and then you can select extra seamswingspin whilst a power gauge is building up. I would say this is the best bowling simulation currently out there.
Poor timing can lead to missing the ball altogether, or an edge which can go anyway and not always to a fielder as in BLC. In the nets, all these shots can be practiced, with a guide saying whether you was early, ideal or late with your timing, so you can soon be caressing the ball through the covers for four even on hard level. The L1 buttons acts as a power up for all these shots making an impressive array of shots available. As most of you probably know, you can play shots off the front and back foot and charge the bowler too. On the umpires, wickets, pitch mats, advertising hoardings, the scores that appear in between deliveries etc and this does take away from the overall experience of believing you are at a cricket match.īatting is the most rewarding part of the gameplay. Also, the EA Sports logo is splashed all over the place. The umpires wear out of date clothing and are all Asian looking. from side on they are completely 2 dimensional. The crowd is the best yet for a cricket game (as in they actually animate) but on closer inspection, they are like cardboard cut outs. The animations are crisp and overall the bowlers and batters looked realistic in what they are trying to do. I could actually tell when Mark Waugh was batting for example and I found this to be true for a few other players too. The graphics of the players are excellent. If you are a regular user of then a lot of my points have already been mentioned on their forums, but I will just comment on things as I found them This may be quite lengthy & don?t expect a journalistic type quality post but do bear with me.
Regular users of this forum know what I have done re: gameplay enhancements in BLC, so hopefully I know something about how a cricket game should/shouldn?t play. I have been playing Cricket 2002 for the last two days and I thought I would give my opinions on the game here.
